Get out of the cold and cozy up with creating some unique art projects. On this guided art adventure, children are introduced to a wide range of art materials. They are encouraged to discover and create using various media including painting, pastels, sculpture, and printmaking. We'll gain inspiration from the great artists around us! (More detailed description coming soon!)
This session in the Teen Studio we'll be creating mixed-media works inspired by contemporary collage artists. Additionally, each student will be encouraged to work within a theme that to them communicates the message of "peace." The possibilities are endless! The culminating project of the class will be to participate in the "Global Art Project – For Peace" where groups from around the world exchange their artworks with each other in an effort to support and spread creative, diverse visions of peace for all of us. Students will have a chance to display their own work before sending it off around the world! Artwork received in exchange from our fellow, global artists will be displayed at KHAC at the end of April.
Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Ages 12 to adult
Instructor: Paul Loehle
Drawing is the building block of all fine art, and anyone who can do it successfully can learn to do practically anything else…from painting to sculpting. This class will be devoted to learning the crucial basics of drawing while learning why drawing is important and what can be achieved with the skills of drawing. Beginners will get comfortable drawing from life and will learn proportional techniques, perspective, shading and value, and the tools and confidence to draw independently. More experienced students will get valuable practice, will learn tools to develop their abilities, and will have the opportunity to explore different media and techniques.
Who doesn't like story time and paint? Explore finger painting and brush painting while learning all about colors and how effective they are for expressing ourselves in our artwork. Class will begin with a story book for inspiration and our 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional painting projects will tie into what we learn in the story!
Create what no kid has created before using pencils, pastels, paint, found objects and some materials that may be new to you. We'll explore the possibilities of two-dimensional art from sketching to pattern making to mixed media compositions. Students who have already taken this class with have the chance to try new techniques and further explore their old favorites. Put your big ideas on paper and see what you can make!
